Participation levels in sport and physical activity vary according to the socio-economic group. Defining socio-economic status can be complicated, but in general, the more affluent parts of Irish society are nearly twice as likely to be active than those from more economically disadvantaged communities.
At TRUST Ireland, we believe in 'Sport for All', and work to ensure that this reflects lived experiences. We know that sport can be compelling in supporting positive social change for communities and individuals, improving mental well-being, increasing employment prospects, and reducing social isolation. We want to help clubs and organisations make a real impact by providing tools and resources to facilitate greater integration. TRUST makes available tools and information on identifying facilitators and barriers to participation and advocating for the resources needed to increase the involvement of economically disadvantaged groups.
